NABARD MABIF in collaboration with Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, NABARD – National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University organized a “GI Mahotsav cum MABIF Mela 2.0” held from 31st May, 01st and 02nd June 2024 at the Hotel Vijayetha Mahal, Vetturnimadam, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari.
The event featured esteemed Chief Guests, including Shri. E. Prasanth, IFS, District Forest Officer and Wildlife Warden, Kanyakumari Division, Dr. E. Somasundaram, Director, DABD, TNAU-Coimbatore, Shri. Suresh Ramalingam RK, AGM, NABARD, Tirunelveli Cluster, Shri. Sanjai Gandhi, Nodal Officer of GI-GoTN, Smt. G. Jerina Bubby, Assistant Director, MSME-Tirunelveli, Prof. Dr.Swarnapriya Special Officer, EDII KABIF, Mrs.Geetha, Deputy Director, Agricultural Marketing and Agri Business department, Mr. Shankaran, Managing Director, Frigoscan, Dr. Archana Das DM, Executive Director, Stella Maris Institute of Development Studies and Er. Ganesh Moorthy K, CEO, NABARD MABIF.
The event showcased over 100 stalls, including more than 40 stalls displaying products with Geograpical Indication (GI) tag such as Madurai Malli, Madurai Sungudi Malli, Chediputta Sarees, Kovilpatti Kadalaimittai, Vilachery clay toys, etc. There are over 60 stalls for Bankers and Startups & FPOs as well as from the agri tech and food tech industry and stalls which sell farmers’ produce. The main objective of mela is to promote the products of new and upcoming entrepreneurs and also to take the Gl products to the global market.
