We are excited to share the successful completion of the “Hackathon on GI Tag Foods – Innovation Challenge” conducted during GI Mahotsav 3.0, held on 07th December 2025 at CSIR−Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysuru.
The hackathon witnessed an overwhelming response with 60+ innovative ideas submitted by inter-college students. From these, 8 outstanding ideas were shortlisted for the final pitching round. The shortlisted 8 teams received focused mentorship during the event, showcasing remarkable entrepreneurial spirit and creative problem-solving skills.
Key Challenges Explored:
1. Developing a digital app to educate consumers about GI tag foods
2. Creating innovative packaging solutions for GI foods to extend shelf life and promote branding
3. Proposing supply chain or distribution models that better connect GI food producers with markets
4. Designing social media campaigns or e-commerce strategies to boost sales of GI tag foods
5. Innovating recipes or food products using GI tag ingredients with a focus on nutrition and sustainability.
