MABIF & NABL’s “Gunvatta Yatra”

NABARD MABIF had the privilege of hosting NABL’s Gunvatta Yatra at MABIF, AC&RI, Madurai on 26th March 2025. Organized by the Regional Office, Quality Council of India (

QCI)-National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (#NABL), Bengaluru, the event aimed to raise awareness about NABL accreditation and its significance for district industries and associated laboratories in Tamil Nadu, particularly in the food and agriculture sectors.

Dr. M. Ananthan, Dean (i/c), Professor and Head of the Department of Horticulture, AC&RI – Madurai, presided over the session and commended NABL for facilitating such an informative initiative.

Er. Ganesh Moorthy K, CEO, NABARD MABIF underscored the importance of NABL accreditation in ensuring quality and credibility across agribusinesses, laboratories and food industries.

Shri K. Saravanan, Food Safety Officer, Madurai and representative of the Food Safety and Drug Administration Department Tamil Nadu, FSSAI Publication, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, elaborated on how accreditation enhances technical competence in laboratories, contributing to improved food safety and agro-food excellence.

The event featured insightful presentations by Mr. Ranjith Kumar, Deputy Director, QCI-NABL Regional Office, Bengaluru, who outlined the benefits of NABL accreditation and Mr. Soundirapandian, Deputy Director, QCI-NABL, who provided a comprehensive walkthrough of the accreditation process and application procedures via the NABL web portal.

With the participation of around 50 agriculture-based food businesses, startups and entrepreneurs from the Madurai district, the session served as a valuable platform for gaining knowledge on NABL accreditation and its role in elevating quality standards in the food and agricultural sectors.
